Newport City Council runs a bulky waste collection at from £22 for up to three items. If you can wait for a slot and you can get the items out to the kerb yourself, it is cheaper than we are and you should use it. Where it falls down is that it is kerbside only, there is a limit on items, and the refusal list is long - no building materials, no garden waste, no tyres, no paint, no car parts.

Rogerstone and Bassaleg are easy for us - twelve minutes and mostly wide residential roads with driveways. The newer estates around the old Alcan site are straightforward. The older cottages near the canal have tighter access and a longer carry.
