If you run a business, your waste is your legal responsibility from the moment you produce it until it reaches a properly permitted site – and that responsibility does not transfer just because somebody drove off with it.
We work with shops, offices, pubs, salons, landlords, letting agents, builders and tradespeople across Caerphilly, Cardiff, Newport and the Vale. One-off clearances or regular collections, and the paperwork done properly every time.
Who we work with
- Landlords and letting agents – end of tenancy clearances, abandoned goods, void property turnaround
- Builders and trades – site waste, strip-out waste, repeat collections to a programme
- Shops and offices – refits, closures, overflow, old stock and furniture
- Pubs, cafes and salons – refurbishment waste and equipment
- Property managers – communal area clearances and fly-tipped waste on your land
Your duty of care, and why the paperwork matters
Under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, a business transferring waste must ensure it goes to an authorised person and must complete a waste transfer note. That note has to include:
- A description of the waste in words and the correct code from the List of Waste
- How it is contained – sacks, skips, loose
- The quantity
- Name, address, permit or registration details and SIC code of the business transferring it
- The same details for whoever is collecting it
- The date and place of transfer
Records must be kept for two years for non-hazardous waste, and three years for hazardous. We issue a note on every commercial collection as standard, without you having to ask for it.
You may have read that digital waste tracking becomes mandatory on 1 October 2026. That applies to operators of permitted waste receiving sites – not to carriers, and not to you as a waste producer. Carriers, brokers and dealers are expected to be brought in around October 2027. Waste transfer notes are not being abolished in the meantime; they continue exactly as now. If a waste company tells you otherwise, they have misread it.
Fly-tipped waste on your land
If waste has been dumped on land you own or manage, removing it is generally your responsibility and your cost, however unfair that is. We clear fly-tipped waste for landlords, farmers, property managers and businesses across the area, and we will document what was removed. Report it to the council first – they may investigate, and in some cases they will clear it.
Accounts and invoicing
We can set up an account, work to a schedule or a site programme, and invoice monthly rather than taking payment on the day. If you need us on a regular round – weekly, fortnightly or on call – tell us what the volume looks like and we will price it.
